Walter Holmes
Walter Holmes lives and works in Northumberland, UK. Walter Holmes has been a full-time professional artist since 1980. His formal training was in science but in 1958 a chance visit to the National Gallery, London, resulted in an epiphany when he instantaneously realised that he really wanted to make paintings. He took a proper job to earn a living while learning to paint. In 1980 he resigned from the job to risk making a living from his paintings. He continues on this arduous course. Walter had his first solo exhibition at the Calouste Gulbenkian Gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1971, and has paintings in company and private collections from USA via Europe to Australia.View artists spotlight
