Gábor Szűcs
Gábor Szűcs is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Bratislava, Slovakia, as a painter, teacher, VJ and video mapping artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He has been awarded numerous prizes in the Netherlands, Hungary, Czech Republic and Russia.
Gábor’s paintings carry messages about various subjects: computer technologies, natural Earthly landscapes and alien worlds. He uses the universe as his source of inspiration. The paintings seem abstract, but their titles suggest otherwise, shifting the attention between the real space and cyberspace. Pictures appear as a space which suggest a variety of messages.
He expresses his meaning through particles and the distortion of forms and reality. A distortion is a change, twist or exaggeration that makes something appear different from the way it really is. An image, a video or even an idea can be distorted. The act of conscious twisting out of shape makes inaccurate forms. As a result, significant attention is paid to what seems like an overload of information occupying a chaotic mind. In fact, behind the chaos are carefully organised recurring structures. They are created by chance, which allows them to retain a fluctuating nature. These structures are inspired by damaged files, computer viruses and “digital bacteria”. It is an unstable and constantly changing process.
